The news that Mauricio Pochettino has left Chelsea after just a year in charge broke on Tuesday night. Within minutes, he had been installed as the new favourite to be the next Manchester United manager. Pochettino was in the running for the United job along with Ten Hag in 2022 as Old Trafford decision-makers prepared for Ralf Rangnick's departure.
His availability ramps up the pressure on Ten Hag ahead of this Saturday's FA Cup Final against Man City at Wembley. Pochettino fits the bill for United in so many ways. While his career has stalled a bit since his superb spell at Tottenham Hotspur, he remains a well-respected coach who is tactically astute and who can blood and develop young players.
