Chewed up toothbrushes were found in Bella's stomach
A woman who let her dog starve to death has been banned from keeping any animal for five years. The RSPCA has revealed sickening details of the case against Cheney Ruby Roach, 36, from Withington in Manchester.
Bella's body was found wrapped in a Spiderman duvet in a cupboard, with a vet later revealing chewed up toothbrushes were found inside her stomach. The RSPCA said a court heard Bella likely experienced 'frustration, boredom, helplessness, loneliness, anxiety and fear' after being abandoned and had been left to starve for at least two weeks.
RSPCA officers had called police for help to access the house over concerns for the welfare of a dog there. Roach pleaded guilty to two offences under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 of causing unnecessary suffering to her dog and failing to meet her needs. RSPCA Animal Rescue Officer Ross Allan first visited Roach's house on December 13, 2023, but got no answer.
