The prospect of seeing two of my favourite bands play on the same night was a no brainer
I lapped up live music like it was going out of fashion. From Queens of the Stone Age to Longpigs, and from Mansun to Placebo, there was nothing I loved more than watching my favourite bands while being squashed by complete strangers and desperately gripping a pint in a plastic glass.
Sadly, as I've 'grown up', my money is now used to pay bills rather than bolster the collection of gig tickets which I once proudly displayed in my bedroom. But there was one line-up which I simply couldn't resist - the Manics and Suede playing at Castlefield Bowl in Manchester. So the prospect of seeing two of my favourite bands play on the same night was a no brainer for me. The bills could wait.
Unless, that is, you're James Dean Bradfield. While the sight of Nicky's feather boas have become as intrinsic to a Manics gig as the emotive A Design For Life the band's singer still bounces around on stage and somehow manages to combine complex vocals with superb solos like he did in 1992.
