Boleskine House has has a rich history and is said to have been a headquarters for some spooky activities.
A mansion on the banks of Loch Ness once owned by a famous occultist and a rock star is to undergo fresh restoration.
A pond which sits behind the B-listed home will be cleaned up, transformed into a haven for local plant and wildlife, and opened to the public. Previously stocked with fish, it is part of the protected Loch Ness and Duntelchaig Special Landscape Area and dates back to the mid-1800s. First purchasing it back in 1899, he was drawn to its seclusion within the Scottish Highlands where he could practise his dark arts in isolation. The self-appointed prophet formed a religious movement named Thelma, reportedly took part in blood-filled orgies fuelled by drugs and had his teeth paired down to fangs.
“It is wonderful to see our estate transform from decades of neglect into a place of natural majesty that people from all over Scotland and the world will be able to enjoy,” said Steven O’Donnell, restoration project lead and Trustee of The Boleskine House Foundation.
