The new Labour government announced the payments will no longer be universal
Around ten million pensioners in the UK are set to lose their winter fuel payments under plans announced by the Chancellor. Rachel Reeves announced on Monday that the payments to assist older people with their utility bills will no longer be universal and will not be given to people who don't receive pension credit or other means-tested benefits.
