HS2’s route will now be much shorter Prime Minister Rishi Sunak finally confirmed this week that the government will be scrapping the HS2 route from Birmingham to Manchester. Speaking at the Conservative Party conference in Manchester today the PM announced that work on the line from the West Midlands to the north of England would come to an end – although the line from Euston to Birmingham would still be completed.
