It’s important for people to become involved in the community through activism in order to save democracy, Huerta said, applauding the people in Houston who plan to march on Friday.
“We’ve got to start teaching more compassion,” she said. “We’ve got to make sure we include in the curriculum the type of studies that will reduce the hate, reduce the discrimination against people of color, against women, against disabled children, against our LGBTQ people. Education is the way we can make sure people do not turn into haters."
