A simple switch could make you big savings
October kicked off with a reduction in the energy price cap, but households are being warned they could still end up paying more than last winter in spite of the lower rates.
And analysts Cornwall Insight have predicted the cap will rise again in January by £73 - around 3.5% - due to increases in wholesale energy prices. To make matters worse, water firms have announced plans to hike annual customer bills to fund improvements to the UK water system, including preventing sewage spills.
Cutting just one minute off the amount of time you spend in the shower each day could save you £35 a year in energy bills and a further £30 a year in water bills if you have a meter. According to MSE, you can get one of these fitted for free in England and Wales if you’re not on a water meter.
