Police said evidence showed the shooter was struggling financially and knew the victim had a large amount of cash.
Kevin S. Harmon, 35 of Gwynn Oak, Maryland, is charged with homicide in connection to the April 23 killing of Miguel Vazquez-Ruiz, 54, of Baltimore, in Brecknock Township, the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office said.
Harmon was struggling financially and after a large amount of cash he knew Vazquez-Ruiz possessed, according to the district attorney’s office. As of April 2023, Harmon’s rent had not been paid since November 2022, prosecutors said. After Vazquez-Ruiz’s death, prosecutors said Harmon deposited $485.55 into his CashApp account and paid $998.99 toward his rent.
