Campaigners behind the Don't Pay UK energy bill boycott have come together to launch a mass non-payment of water bills

“If Thames Water hasn’t declared itself bankrupt by October, then one of the aims would be to nudge it into bankruptcy,” Mr Davies said. “We focus the campaign on building up financial disobedience and the reason for that is that we have seen there are people who do not want to pay,” Mr Davies said. While the Take Back Water campaign initially aimed to launch a boycott of Thames Water bill payments, water customers from across the country expressed their support for the campaign, leading the group to encourage all water customers to take part in the boycott regardless of their water provider.

Mr Kaufman decided to begin boycotting the wastewater element of his bill in May 2023 and currently owes the firm more than £100.Boycott Thames Water also aims to bring Thames Water back under public ownership. “We understand the strength of feeling around river health, and we are committed to seeing our waterways thrive but we can’t do it alone.
