Celtic have been told they won't get Brondby forward Mathias Kvistgaarden for cheap as the Danes have slapped a fresh price tag on their prize asset.
Brendan Rodgers sparked intrigue among the Hoops support when he called for 'quality' additions to his squad after they crashed out of the Viaplay Cup at the first time of asking against Kilmarnock. The Irishman has overseen the recruitment of six new players including Gustaf Lagerbielke and Maik Nawrocki in defence, but reports suggested the Scottish champions were keen on the 21-year-old Kvistgaarden but would have to stump up some cash for his services.
Now in a fresh update, Ekstra Bladet report that Brondby have set the bar at £5.9million for the attacker. Reports suggested a lower price tag of £4million was the standard, but Bladet say the Danish side have told interested suitors of their real valuation. Brondby director of football Carsten Jensen, according to the report is yet to receive a 'concrete offer' for his prize asset.
Kvistgaarden penned new terms in Brøndbyvester this year, with the star having a contract until 2027. Celtic could be looking to bolster their options with only Kyogo Furuhashi and South Korean Oh are recognised centre-forwards in Glasgow. Jensen said this month when quizzed on the attacker: "Basically, it has not been part of the plan. We are still in the process of transfers. It's both relation to ins and outs. We still need to adjust the number of players in the squad, even though we are getting to where we want to be. It's definitely getting closer to what we want to have in our squad. Then we have our eyes and ears open in relation to a few more positions.
