Daily News | Mayor Kenney picks two new Philly school board members
“They have dedicated their careers to supporting children and families, and I know that they will each make important contributions to the board’s leadership and Philadelphia’s public schools,” Kenney said in a statement. “I am very grateful that they have agreed to take on this vital responsibility.”
Neither has a child in district schools. Andrews is a district graduate — she’s an alumnus of Saul High School — and Lam is a charter school parent who spent six years working for the school system, both in the superintendent’s office and the Office of Research and Evaluation. Lam also sits on a panel that advises the state on cyber charter school authorizations.
Andrews and Lam replace Angela McIver, who resigned last year, and Maria McColgan, who resigned last month.
