Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania's two post-credits scenes are an upgrade from Phase 4. However, Phase 5 needs to avoid a new MCU problem.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania's two post-credits scenes are a step up from the MCU's Phase 4's, but Phase 5 still needs to improve the MCU's after-credits bonus footage. The Marvel Cinematic Universe popularized the concept of post-credits scenes as teasers for future projects, encouraging both loyal fans and general audiences to sit through the credits and look forward to the next movie. And 15 years after Samuel L.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY The MCU's post-credits scenes also have certain weaknesses, as movies can withhold key information just to reveal it after the credits or fail to provide any exciting set-ups for future installments. Hence, confusion and disappointment are always unfortunate possibilities. Whereas the Infinity Saga offered a variety of now iconic post-credits scenes, Phase 4 stumbled in that area.
In Phase 4, the MCU's post-credits scenes introduced new characters such as Eros, Blade, Clea, Hercules, and even Venom. Apart from the mere excitement of seeing them join the MCU, Phase 4 made little effort to suggest why they are debuting or when they will return.
Phase 5's Post-Credits Scenes Are Still A Problem For Quantumania & Beyond Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania recovers the original spirit of MCU post-credits scenes, but it raises another problem. The Council of Kangs and Victor Timely are bigger reveals than any event that happened within the movie itself, and those scenes provide enough information to understand future installments without the need to watch Ant-Man fight Kang the Conqueror.
While Phase 4 tended to have trivial post-credits scenes, Phase 5 must try not to make them more important than the movies or shows that precede them. As the MCU gets closer to its next Avengers crossover event, every installment must play a clear role within the franchise. And post-credits scenes, as originally envisioned, can reward loyal fans with subtle but exciting teases at future storylines.
