The new season of the drag queen competition premieres on VH1 on February 28.
A new fleet of queens is gearing up to compete for the title of America's Next Drag Superstar. VH1 announced the contestant lineup for the upcoming Season 12 of the reality competitionThe highly anticipated new season features 13 drag queens hailing from cities all across America including Aiden Zhane of Acworth, Georgia; Crystal Methyd of Springfield, Missouri; Dahlia Sin and Gigi Goode of Los Angeles; Heidi N Closet of Ramseur, North Carolina; Jaida Essence Hall of Milwaukee; Rock M.
The troupe will compete in a series of challenges and—more importantly—lip-sync performances to earn the Drag Superstar title in addition to winning a cash prize of $100,000. As in previous seasons, fans can expect an abundance of attitude, personality, over-the-top looks and the shadiest of shade."With each new generation of queens, therevolution continues to drive culture," RuPaul Charles, the show's creator, host and executive producer, said in a statement."And as more and more new viewers discover the show, the phenomenon continues to open hearts and minds with love, laughter and a whole lotta [sic] sass.
During the Season 11 finale in May 2019, Yvie Oddly beat out finalist Silky Nutmeg Ganache and A'Keria Chanel Davenport. It was Oddly's ability to showcase the duality of drag—pairing polished and poised performances with eye-catching and totally out-of-the-box drag—that put her a step above the rest.
