A GLASGOW primary school has called for reinforcement as they look for volunteers ahead of community litter pick.
The area around the Dalmarnock school between Auckland Wynd and Springfield Road has been prone to a rise in litter according to those at Riverbank, as well as having little to no natural wildlife in the area due to a poor eco-environment.However, children at the primary have taken it upon themselves to get the community involved and help clean up the land.
“The children have even gone as far as filing adverts for the issue and creating posters to raise awareness.”The school has also turned the cleaning event into a learning opportunity as staff have added eco-sustainability and green environments into the children's Curriculum for Excellence. Teacher Kate added: “Every year we do an audit around the school and the children could see that litter was becoming an issue as they could see it from the playground.
