The Duke of Sussex will have a welcomed boost as his wife is expected to fly in from the US for the closing of the event in Dusseldorf today.

Meghan Markle has been staying at home in the US as Prince Harry takes centre stage for the annual Invictus Games held in Dusseldorf, Germany, although he will have a much-needed boost as his wife is to jet across for the closing ceremony today.

It has been reported the duchess could hold a "big role" at the closing ceremony and it comes after Harry poked fun at his wife for her 'competitive' streak during his opening speech. Harry was also forced to wear a German football scarf as a forfeit after he lost a penalty shootout-style competition to the country's grey-haired defence minister.

Prince Harry founded the Invictus Games back in 2014 to "celebrate the unconquered human spirit" and to "shine a spotlight" on those who have served in the armed forces.
