Memorial Tournament field: no Tiger Woods but seven of top-10 ranked players in world
No Tiger Woods. And no Tiger's new best buddy - recently-minted PGA Championship winner Justin Thomas - but thestill will welcome seven of the top-10 players in the world to next week's PGA Tour event at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin.
Woods, who has won the Memorial a record-five times but is still trying to come back from a gruesome leg injury suffered in a single vehicle crash in 2021, did not commit to participate by the 5 p.m. Friday deadline. Neither did Thomas, ranked No. 5 globally, or world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who finished third at Muirfield Village last year.
Still, the Memorial will have No. 2 Jon Rahm, No. 3 Cameron Smith and No. 6 Patrick Cantlay, who will be defending his title in front of crowds that for the first time in two years will not be limited due to COVID-19 safety protocols.
