A look back at The Beaver pub in Courtlands Drive, Watford, that is now the site of housing.
It is 14 years ago since this former pub where a sitcom was once filmed was demolished to make way for housing.has again joined forces with its friends at Watford Museum to look back at structures, objects or businesses from the town’s past that have either disappeared or been relocated and this week we recall The Beaver.
The museum’s volunteer archivist Christine Orchard said: “The Beaver pub in Courtlands Drive was one of the newly-built pubs owned by Ind Coope and was probably a welcome addition to the area when it first opened.“It underwent several alterations over the years and was even used in 2009 for the filming of a BBC3 sitcom.“I understand that there was a suggestion that the pub's sign might be retained as it was a distinctive landmark on the corner of Gammons Lane.
