The Met Office has issued a raft of warnings for snow, ice, rain, and wind this weekend as Storm Bert rolls in - and the national weather agency has explained how long the snow will last on the ground
Storm Bert is set to unleash a wintry blast across the UK, with the Met Office forecasting as much as 40cm of snow in some regions.
A yellow rain and snow warning is set to come into force from the north of Scotland right down to the Midlands in England. There is also an amber warning for some parts of Scotland, covering parts of Aberdeenshire, Argyll and Bute, Highland, Stirling, Perth and Kinross, as well as Angus, where 40cm of snow could settle on the ground.
But how long will we actually have snow on the ground for? It turns out, not very. Deakin went on to warn of "heavy rain" coming with the snow, and said Storm Bert is also bringing "milder air". He said: "So it will warm up, so the snow won't last that long."
