Forecast heavy rain may lead to further flooding in the affected areas
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain in Nottinghamshire as the county continues to deal with flooding. The forecaster put the warning in place for most of Nottinghamshire between 3am and 4pm on Tuesday, October 24.
It warned heavy rain may lead to further flooding in the affected areas. Road closures and train and bus cancellations are possible throughout tomorrow, said the Met Office, which has predicted rain to last until the early evening. It added: "There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings. There is a small chance of fast-flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life."There is a small chance that some communities will become cut off by flooded roads." Thirty-eight flood warnings remain in place on Monday, October 23.
A major incident was announced around Retford on Sunday, October 22, prompting hundreds of house evacuations. It came after Storm Babet bombarded Nottinghamshire and the rest of the UK throughout the week. The severe flooding warning for Retford was downgraded yesterday evening, but Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service advised residents to maintain "high levels of vigilance" and continue to check flood alerts for the area.
