New Year's Eve looks set to be a washout with a new weather warning for rain issued across Lancashire
The latest Met Office weather maps have revealed the exact areas of Lancashire set to be hit by a blast of snow on New Year's Day.
The Met Office has issued a new weather warning for heavy rain, coming into force at 6pm on New Year's Eve and lasting for 24 hours. Residents are being advised to be prepared for possible flooding, plus disruption to roads, travel services and power. On New Year’s Eve, delays to all types of transport are “likely” as strong winds persist and may reach speeds of up to 70mph in England and Northern Ireland, the Met Office warned. Up to 20cm of snow may blanket areas of higher ground while strong winds have the potential to “exacerbate impacts”, creating “blizzard conditions” which could freeze powerlines.
