Despite the personal attacks that have streamed from the Trump White House, former first lady Michelle Obama is sticking by her mantra of going high when others go low.In the keynote address of the first day of the Democratic National Convention, Obama hailed Joe Biden as a “profoundly decent man” and highlighted his experience as vice president under her husband’s administration. Obama said that she’d seen Biden at work and that he’d proved himself capable of handling the demands of the job.
“He was a terrific vice president. He knows what it takes to rescue an economy, beat back a pandemic and lead our country,” Obama continued, seated in a living room, wearing a thin gold V-O-T-E necklace, with family pictures and a Biden for President sign in the background. “And he listens. He will tell the truth and trust science.”“I know Joe,” she said. “He is a profoundly decent man, guided by faith.
Earlier in the evening, Tom Perez, the chairman of the Democratic National Committee, foreshadowed Obama’s speech as an illuminating look into Biden‘s strengths because of the close bond their families share.
