Gov. Whitmer warned parts of Midland County could be under nine feet of water following the collapse of two dams.
Meteorologist Eric Holthaus tweeted that the situation in Midland is"one of those nightmare scenarios" that scientists wish would never occur.Residents in Edenville, the village of Sanford, and parts of the city of Midland, among other areas, are also evacuating as a result of the surge."If you have not evacuated the area, do so now and get somewhere safe," Whitmer said.
"In the next 12 to 15 hours, downtown Midland could be under approximately nine feet of water. We are anticipating a historic high water level," Whitmer said.
