Commemoration events marking the anniversary of the 7 October Hamas attacks are being held across Israel. In Beirut, there are reports of four large blasts, after the Israeli military issued further evacuation orders for southern parts of the Lebanese capital.
Today marks one year since the 7 October attacks, when Hamas gunmen invaded southern Israel, rampaging through communities and killing 1,200 people.Around 250 people were taken back to Gaza, according to Israeli tallies, where some are still being held hostage. Memorial services and protests have started early this morning across Israel to mark the anniversary.
The mosque was situated near the al Aqsa Hospital, in Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip.Hamas commander 'unreachable'Reports came through that Hashem Safieddine - the cousin of Hezbollah's leader Hassan Nasrallah who was the frontrunner to take his place - had been targeted in an Israeli strike in Beirut.His fate is currently unknown. A Lebanese security source reportedly told the Reuters news agency that he had been 'unreachable' since last Friday.
