Trout’s run-prevention prowess appeared in the fourth inning of a scoreless game when the Cubs’ Ian Happ hit a drive to deep center field. Trout tracked back to the wall and reached just above the padding to make the catch, without much need to leave his feet. A half inning after Trout’s home run, the Cubs took a 2-1 lead on an RBI double by Trey Mancini and a run-scoring single from Miguel Amaya. Taking advantage of a rare start in left field, Rengifo tied it for the Angels a half inning later with a long home run to center, his fourth.
