EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — On Saturday night, Mike Tyson will be a featured guest at a $250-a-plate fundraiser for a politician you’ve probably never heard of.
But even back then, Tyson said, he saw in Patti something other than a boxer – a politician. Almost four decades later, Patti is exploring a possible run for U.S. Congress., where Tyson will attempt to generate the support Patti needs to launch a campaign to become a congressman during polarized times.
“I thought he was delusional,’’ said Patti, 57, who owns a crane company in Stockton. “But he kept pushing me to do it.’’
