Two missing hikers were found safe with only minor injuries after spending 18 days in the New Zealand wilderness.

Two hikers rescued in the New Zealand wilderness Wednesday got lost in fog and exhausted their food but survived 19 days with only minor injuries, police said.
“This is a fantastic outcome and one that we were all hoping for, although we were becoming increasingly concerned as the days progressed," said police area commander Paul Borrell in a statement. Bad weather earlier this week had hampered the search and raised more concerns about the pair's safety.
