Mission: Impossible 7 revealed a trailer at CinemaCon, which featured the first look at footage from the latest entry in the franchise. Christopher McQuarrie is back directing the sequel, having helmed the last two films in the series. The film brings back Tom Cruise as IMF agent Ethan Hunt, once again taking his stunt work to the next level in the ever-expanding franchise.
Also joining the film, which is set to be a two-part feature, is Esai Morales as the main villain, Cary Elwes, Pom Klementieff, Hayley Atwell, Rob Delaney, and Shea Whigham. Mission: Impossible 7 has suffered a number of production delays due to the pandemic, as well as numerous release delays, originally slated to debut in July 2021 and now set for July 14, 2023 .
During Paramount's CinemaCon presentation, Cruise appeared in a video message to the crowd of exhibitors and press, announcing the new title of the film, Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning - Part 1, as well as introducing the first trailer for the film. Numerous attendees shared their reactions, including Erik Davis and Barry Hertz, amongst others, which paints a portrait of yet another Cruise-led stunt-heavy, action blockbuster.
Characters shown include Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Rebecca Ferguson , Henry Czerny's return, and Vanessa Kirby. The footage also showed a horse chase , motorcycle chases , tons of Tom Cruise running, a fight on a train , and the massive stunt of Cruise launching off a cliff on a motorcycle in Norway, which the actor called “far and away the most dangerous thing I’ve attempted.
