Molly Waitz managed to pump dozens of ounces of breast milk while running the New York City marathon Sunday, November 3.
Honestly, Waitz's feat was so incredible, she even impressed herself.
But she didn't back down once she came to her senses. Instead, the new mom pushed herself through training -- often running with her now-8-month-old son in his stroller. She already knew that the 26.2-mile marathon was going to take her around six hours to finish. And since she regularly breastfeeds her son and pumps in between feedings, her body wasn't about to just stop producing milk.
Willow sent Waitz a free pump far enough in advance that the new mom was able to train while wearing the pump, which made Sunday's feat“I don’t have to stop physically moving my body to do all this," Waitz explained last week, before estimating that she'd probably pump around 20 ounces of milk or more, and store it in her fanny pack with an ice pack inside.
