Monkeypox is set to be renamed after experts said there was an “urgent need” for a non-discriminatory and non-stigmatising” name for the virus.
No deaths have been reported in the latest outbreak, but experts warned that in countries where the virus is endemic, deaths are reported every year.There have been 452 monkeypox cases recorded in England, 12 in Scotland, four in Wales and two in Northern Ireland as of June 12.
