Officials now say about 30-35 people were on a bus that rolled off the road near Tremonton this morning. More than 20 passengers were taken to the hospital, with at least 3 people suffering serious to critical injuries. macfox13 is at the scene:
Utah Highway Patrol reported the crash at 4:30 a.m. on Interstate 84 near milepost 35, about seven miles west of Tremonton.The bus was not equipped with seatbelts for the passengers onboard, UHP stated. The bus driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was uninjured.
The majority of the patients were reported to be in fair condition, officials with the hospital explained, but three or four have serious to critical trauma-related injuries. The bus driver was reportedly changing lanes when they lost control of the bus because of a slick roadway. The bus slid off the road to the right and rolled on its side, UHP stated.
