Christopher More was jailed for life in 2021
An undercover TV researcher who spent 16 years on the run following the brutal torture killing of a dad-of-two at a cannabis farm has lost an appeal against his conviction. Christopher Guest More Jr, from Lymm, was jailed for life for the murder of Brian Waters in December 2021, more than 18 years after the killing.
Mr Waters and farm worker Suleman Razak, who survived the four-hour ordeal, were tied up and suspended from rafters, beaten, and dropped in barrels of liquid. They were also burned with melting plastic, had staple guns used on their bodies and were assaulted with a metal bar.Mr Waters suffered more than 100 separate injuries. More Jr fled the UK two days after the murder and was later named one of Europe's most wanted men.
He claimed he had befriended Manchester-based drug dealer John Wilson, one of three men already convicted of the murder, because he thought he could sell a story on him being a police informant to the media and he might lead him to a cannabis farm, which he could film for a Channel 4 Dispatches documentary. Mr Waters, a cannabis dealer who was growing the drug at Burnt House Farm, near Knutsford, owed Wilson a drugs debt of £20,000, the court heard.
James Raven, of Radcliffe, who did television work with More, and Otis Matthews, of Stretford, were convicted of murder at earlier trials. More Jr challenged his conviction at two Court of Appeal hearings in July this year.
