The decision was taken earlier this week following the discovery that reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) planks comprised the majority of the roof structure.
Motherwell Concert Hall and Theatre has been forced to close its doors due to the roof containing a potentially dangerous concrete.
In a statement, North Lanarkshire Council said: “An initial inspection of the Motherwell Theatre and Concert Hall has found that the majority of the roof is made with reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete planks. RAAC is a material that was used in some buildings constructed between the mid-1950s and mid-1990s and its presence has led to more than 100 complete or partial school closures in England.
