Prices of oil and diesel could soon reach £1.60 per litre
Drivers are being braced for another harsh increase at the pumps. Motorists have been warned the price of petrol and diesel could soon soar as a barrel of oil is fast approaching 100 dollars in the US.
It is not the huge increases seen across forecourts in 2022 - but is still creeping up, reports Birmingham Live.. Rod Dennis, a spokesperson for the RAC motoring group, said: “Drivers had already seen a sharp increase in pump prices through the course of August as a result of the oil price rising. "An even higher oil price is likely to force wholesale fuel prices up further, and – if these are sustained – that’s likely to spell further price rises on forecourts up and down the UK in the coming weeks.” Brent crude, the oil price benchmark, ended Monday at 94 US dollars per barrel. This is the highest price since mid-November 2022, and before the start of this month, the highest oil price of the year was 88 US dollars in January.
