Phoenix Suns will look to even regular season series with New Orleans Pelicans in their final regular season matchup Saturday at Footprint Center.
Suns coach Monty Williams went into Thursday’s game knowing the Los Angeles Clippers were short handed, but his thoughts were mainly focused on Phoenix snapping a season-long skid.
Not only was that a factor in the Pelicans taking Game 3 and 4 in the first round of last season’s playoffs, but their homecourt gave them major energy in the two recent wins in New Orleans. The first game ended with Williamson’s 360-degree dunk as time expired not going over with some of the Phoenix players. Chris Paul and Jose Alvarado got into it, as did Pelicans coach Willie Green and Suns associate head coach Kevin Young.
The Pelicans won that one in overtime. After the game, Suns big Deandre Ayton let it be known how he felt about the loss, which might not sit too well with the Pelicans.
