Two would-be drug smugglers were jailed after they were found with four large suitcases containing 72 kilos of cannabis, when flying to Manchester Airport from Canada
Alisha Tworuschka and Jacqueline Desorcy jetted off for what they thought was a free holiday but are now behind bars. Alisha , a mother-of-two, and Jacqueline ended up in Manchester after flying from their Canadian homes.
Alisha's lawyer said: "Perhaps some people would be out of the building very quickly, but she wasn't." Both women, aged 29, have been sentenced to one year and 10 months in prison. Judge Patrick Field KC explained: "What you did was to agree to fly almost halfway around the globe from your homes in British Colombia to Manchester, via Toronto, in order to carry a total of 72 kilos of cannabis.
