Mr Smith told jurors that in a “cruel twist” it was actually Hasan looking to have an affair, contacting a woman on a Muslim dating site days before his wife’s death. Hasan accepts killing his wife but denies murder because he did not intend to cause serious harm, Mr Smith said.
