Police have launched a homicide investigation after a 47-year-old woman was found dead in a Miami Beach hotel that caters to flight crews – and the door to her room was blocked by a mattress.
Marelbi Ruiz Lara, 47, was found dead inside a posh Miami Beach hotel used by airline crews. She was staying at the hotel with her boyfriend, who went missing.The door to Lara’s room at the oceanfront Sherry Frontenac Hotel was blocked by a mattress.He said he became worried after not hearing from her for several days and called the hotel to ask staff to check on her in the 10When the security staff tried to open the door, they found that it was blocked by a mattress.
Lara was staying at the hotel with her boyfriend, who was working on a remodeling job in the building, WPLG reported. Police have not confirmed a link between the homicide and a reported suicide on the side of I-75 on Tuesday in Sarasota, according to the report.The cause of death remains under investigation and a suspect has not been named.The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office removed the woman’s body about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday and the cause of death remains under investigation.
