A woman, recently arrested for murder, has been connected to the man who sparked a statewide manhunt after shooting at an Oklahoma deputy, officials said.
Ashle Gilbert was arrested for a murder that happened on May 7. Tommy Lewis was shot to death on a sidewalk outside of a home. Another man was injured in the shooting.
Gilbert's cell phone was taken as evidence from her during a prostitution sting which also involved Jenkins and Gilbert. After a warrant was served on her phone, officers found that Gilbert had contacted Jenkins to go to his location in reference to a disturbance that involved Lewis and his brother Dajoun Davis.
An undercover officer rented a hotel room where Gilbert agreed to provide him with sexual intercourse in exchange for a $300 escort service fee. Text messages between Gilbert and Jenkins show he encouraged Gilbert to engage in commercial sex work by providing instructions on what to wear, what name to use, how to engage with customers, and how to set up accounts on commercial sex internet sites.
