Gov. Phil Murphy, an accrediting agency, the NCAA and other state officials still need to officially sign off on the historic merger set to take place in June.

, according to a school spokesperson.

The two schools reached a deal last year to merge in order to save financially-troubled Bloomfield College from shutting down. Bloomfield College and Montclair State officials said they would combine the two schools by June 30.“These are all collaborative processes that are somewhat interdependent. We are confident that the merger closing will occur on time, and we thank Gov.

Both sides have been proceeding assuming the merger is going to happen on time. The Murphy administration and lawmakers have expressed support for the plan. Some Bloomfield College professors and staff will lose their jobs due to the merger, officials said. Montclair State announced March 1 that it isnegotiating with the college’s administration on severance and related issues.
