Delaware Valley Regional High School Senior Michael Mangino's paintings can be seen at the ArtYard gallery in Frenchtown.

Mangino, who is autistic, recently began going to Studio Route 29, a non-profit organization and art studio that encourages the artistic expression of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as part of the school’s“The FIERCE program teaches work skills on the job, life skills, and skills for independent living as well as exploring resources and services available to the students once they age out at 21,” special education teacher Nanette Elder, who is codeveloped the program,...

“We chose Michael’s work for an exhibition at Artyard because he has created an incredibly inspiring, powerful and accomplished body of work in a very short time and will undoubtedly continue to develop as an artist,” Studio Route 29 Executive Director Kathleen Henderson, who co-founded the studio. said.

Anna Mangino and her son, Michael, in front of one of his paintings on display at the ArtYard gallery in Frenchtown.Henderson said Mangino began coming to the studio four times a week in the gall and quickly established himself as a prolific artist. Mangino’s exhibition will in ArtYard’s first-floor Courtyard Gallery through May 21. Van Dyk said the gallery will regularly collaborate with Studio Route 29 to host exhibitions in its River Gallery.
