Tom Turcich and his dog, Savannah, were welcomed home by family, friends and admirers in Haddonfield.
The 33-year-old Haddon Township native was welcomed home Saturday by friends, family and other admirers who gathered outside a restaurant in Haddonfield.Many showed up also to greet his dog, Savannah, a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. Savannah was 4 months old when Turcich adopted her while walking through Texas in 2015. Together, they visited 6 continents and 35 nations.
Saturday was the the final chapter. Turcich, who had been staying in Philadelphia since Wednesday, took Savannah on a stroll across the Ben Franklin Bridge around 3 p.m.restaurant. Turcich has said his worldwide journey was inspired by the death of his friend, AnneMarie — he was 17, and she was 16, when she was killed in a jet ski accident — and the exploits of Karl Bushby, a former British paratrooper who for two decades has been attempting to become the first person to walk an unbroken path around the world.
