An 80-year-old motorist died early Thursday when his vehicle struck the rear of a stopped dump truck, setting off a chain-reaction crash in Gloucester County, police said.
Richard Reddie, of Franklinville, was driving a pickup truck north on Fries Mill Road approaching the intersection with Route 322 in Monroe Township around 7:45 a.m. when he failed to stop for a row of vehicles ahead of him that were stopped in traffic, according to township police. The pickup hit the back of a dump truck and the collision sent the dump truck into the rear of an SUV, police said. The SUV then struck the rear of another vehicle.The driver of the SUV, a 52-year-old Clayton woman, suffered minor injuries, while the other two drivers were not hurt.
