The start of classes in New Jersey has coincided with a heat wave.

Some schools in New Jersey are again sending students home early Friday though New Jersey’s heat wave is starting to let up, if only with slightly lower temperatures today. New Jersey’s second largest school district, in Jersey City, had an early dismissal on its first day of classes Thursday, and students are again being sent home early on Friday.
The Freehold Regional High School District in Monmouth County is opting for a third consecutive day of early dismissals “due to the lingering heat impacts in our buildings after this week’s high temperatures,” according to an announcement on its website. Some other districts are resuming full schedules. The Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District, which had early dismissals Wednesday and Thursday, is resuming a full schedule Friday. Students in West Orange will have a regular day, following an early dismissal Thursday.
