specifically for children to help combat stress and anxiety.
As for the meditations themselves: They’re centered around “evidence-based techniques used for mindfulness in kids and teens,” says Sharon Adusei, PhD, clinical strategy lead of outcomes and quality at Modern Health and a licensed child clinical psychologist. They incorporate what Adusei calls “open-ended language allowing youth to choose how they want to practice meditation, and statements that encourage building positive habits.
“For me, asking for help when I was younger was scary, so I really want kids to know that it’s okay. Children have so much on their plates and often don’t really know how to express when they need help or need a calming and grounding moment,” Osaka says. “I really hope I can help kids learn to feel more grounded and more mentally relaxed.”
