FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The National Weather Service is expecting snow in Fairbanks from Thursday, February 17 through Friday, February 18.According to Jonathan Chriest, Meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Fairbanks, “We’re going to see pretty calm conditions up until tomorrow afternoon, when snow is going to pick back up as a front approaches from the southwest, and that’s going to bring us three to five inches from tomorrow afternoon through Friday evening, to the Fairbanks area.
Wind conditions could pick up along the summits of the Dalton, Elliot, and Steese highways. “Up over the highway summits, we are expecting gusts a little bit higher, up to 30 miles an hour, which could create reductions in visibility for drivers up there,” Chriest said.The period of the advisory may not be the end of the snow. “We’re expecting some more snow early next week, kind of too early to tell on exact amounts, but there is a chance for some more snow.
