Work on new homes will begin next month
Residents have shared what they would like to see changed on their "forgotten" Nottinghamshire estate. After contractors were appointed by Mansfield District Council for the Bellamy Road Community Heart Scheme, neighbours on the estate have shared their thoughts on life on the road and what could be improved.
“This now means works can begin on site from August, and we will see brand new energy-efficient affordable homes, a village green space and a new shop built. All of these will complement the newly installed play park and learn-to-cycle track on the estate, which opened in the last year."They continued: “The plans for this long-awaited project follow extensive consultation with residents, landlords and key organisations involved with life on the estate.
Mum of three, Kimberley Wilson, 34, said: "If anything, then something for the kids. They have built a park but it is not as good. He explained: "The park across the road, there was talks of putting in houses there but they took away the children's play area and football area but haven't done anything." He added that "the parking is very limited on the estate" and he would love to see more parking spaces incorporated.
"I also want to say thank you to all Mansfield District Council staff involved in this project, they have worked long and hard to bring this development to fruition. I am looking forward to seeing a spade in the ground to start construction of the high-quality social housing in the autumn.”
