The new free school has praised its 'state-of-the-art facilities' after three years teaching in temporary accommodation
After eight years of planning, three years of temporary classrooms and ongoing issues regarding demolition works, Bluecoat Trent Academy has officially cut the ribbon on its new £30m site. The free school, located off Mansfield Road - on the grounds where Nottingham College's former Clarendon campus once stood - has the capacity for 1,200 students, with 900 children set to begin their academic year on Wednesday, September 3.
"It will provide brilliant facilities for children in the heart of the city centre and that’s what we’re really passionate about," Mrs Hampton said. "We’re really committed to this city and we’re really delighted to be throwing our doors open tomorrow. "I do PE for GCSE, so having these new facilities will be great," Year 10 student Oscar said of the new site. "I've had a small tour round, and it's already so much bigger."
