A Blue Badge can help you park closer to the places you want to go as a driver or passenger.
The Department for Transport has shared a new update about Blue Badge applications after Labour MP Julia Buckley asked if there have been any discussions with local councils to reduce the processing time. However, the Road Safety Minister Lilian Greenwood said there are “no timescales set for administering applications” but added that “issuing authorities should aim to complete end to end applications within 12 weeks”.
The ‘12-weeks’ target is also in Transport Scotland guidance for those making a new application or renewing a Blue Badge that is due to expire. A Blue Badge costs £20 in Scotland and typically lasts for three years, although this can be less if you are applying based on a disability award which has been provided for less than three years.Eligibility for a Blue Badge is also reviewed every time a renewal application is submitted. The Timer Clock is a plastic dial with hands that can be adjusted to show the time of parking arrival. You can also reapply if your disability or health condition becomes more serious. Apply for a Blue Badge on the mygov.scot website here.
