FC Barcelona's iconic Camp Nou stadium will host its first ever rugby league match this weekend - with the Catalan Dragons, holders of the Challenge Cup, facing off against reigning Super League champs Wigan. We spoke to Bernard Guasch, chairman of the Dragons, about what it means to the club.

Few stadiums in world sports are as iconic as FC Barcelona’s Camp Nou. A 100,000 capacity temple of soccer, it is also the spiritual home of the Catalan nation.
The Challenge Cup win opened up new parameters for the Dragons, particularly south of the border. Playing at the Camp Nou is a huge honor, but also a huge challenge, with tens of thousands of tickets to be sold. While selling out the whole stadium is something of an unachievable goal, the Dragons will be quietly confident of breaking the current Super League attendance record, which currently stands at a shade over 25,000.
Before the game, the tradition is a lunch between the chairmen of both clubs. Bartomeu invited me to join them. During the lunch, we spoke about the club and the fact we are all sharing the same culture and heritage. When I told Bartomeu that we had already played a game ten years ago in Barcelona at the Olympic Stadium, he replied that the Dragons had to come back to play in Barcelona again and he invited us to play in his stadium.
